If I knew where I was going next, I wouldn’t be taking so many naps, or reading all these books, trying to divine my future in pillow cases and stitched book bindings, lost in small decisions of each day, only a little bit numb. I am the inevitable wanderer. The girl who always says goodbye, but never knows how to leave.
Life isn’t about keeping score. It’s not about how many people call you and it’s not about who you’ve dated, are dating, or haven’t dated at all. It isn’t about who you’ve kissed, what sport you play, or which girl or guy likes you. It’s not about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin or where you live or where you go to school. In fact, it’s not about grades, money, clothes, or colleges that accept you. Life isn’t about if you have lots of friends, or if you are alone, and it’s not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn’t about that. But life is about who you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealously, overcoming ignorance, and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. Most of all, it’s about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that I could never been achieved otherwise.
She rolled over, buried half her face in her pillow, and smiled slightly. It was then, the overwhelming realization washed over me that there is so much more to life than simply surviving it.
Everyone has an angel. A guardian who watches over us. We can’t know what form they’ll take. One day, old man. Next day, little girl. But don’t let appearances fool you, they can be as fierce as any dragon. Yet, they’re not here to fight our battles, but to whisper from our heart. Reminding that it’s us. It’s every one of us who holds power over the worlds we create. We can deny our angels exist, convince ourselves they can’t be real. But they show up anyway, at strange places and at strange times. They can speak through any character we can imagine. They’ll shout through demons if they have to. Daring us, challenging us to fight.
If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared that it’s not the right thing.. Even if you;’re scared that it’ll cause problems. Even if you’re scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud, and you go from there.
Sometimes, the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us.
Never be afraid to fall apart, because it is an opportunity to rebuild yourself the way you wish you had been all along.
You see, life is like a mirror. Who you are is reflected by those around you.
Sometimes the only way to catch your breath is to lose it completely.
When we fail and screw up, guess what? we fall into an ocean of grace. But that grace is so good, it not only forgives us, but frees us from our struggles.
You have to get hurt. That’s how you learn. The strongest people out there- the ones who laugh the hardest with the genuine smile, those are the ones who have fought the hardest battles. Because they have decided that they’re not going to let anything hold them down. They’re showing the world who’s boss.
Look for a man who has placed his heart in the hands of God. His expectations, job, successes, and past no longer define him because he has found his true purpose in the eyes of the King.
They say that falling in love is a scary thing. I don’t think that falling in love is scary. I think that we’re more scared of letting ourselves go. We’re scared of letting those parts of us go that we never thought would find its way from the depths of the darkness and into the light. Maybe, we’re just scared of letting people see who we really are.
“What” and “if” are two words as non threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side, and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life. What if? What if? What if? I don’t know how your story ended, but if what you felt is true love, then it’s never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don’t even know what a love like Juliet’s feels like- love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for, but I’d like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I would have the courage to seize it.
If we spent more time praying for people, we’d probably spend less time judging them.
To make the right choices in life, you have to get in touch with your soul. To do this, you need to experience solitude, which most people are afraid of, because in the silence, you hear the truth and know the solutions.
Being single doesn’t mean you don’t know anything about love. It just means that you know enough to wait for it.
You have to remember that fear is not real. It is a product of the thoughts you create. Don’t misunderstand me. Danger is very real, but fear is a choice.
I crave a love so deep, the ocean would be jealous.
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion. Who can stay with us in an hour or confusion , who can stay with us an an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing, and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.
